How the figures were made
A state can change by a few large awards, by Medicare payments, or by the time at which agencies report an award. The table does not give the reason.
Both years come from the same monthly series of USAspending by place of performance. A change is given when the figure of FY2025 is $1 million or more.
The table shows activity: the amounts that agencies obligated. It does not grade a recipient, a place or an agency.
Source: USAspending.gov API v2. An obligation is a promise of the government to pay. It is not a payment.
A program makes this page from the USAspending files with fixed sentence rules. See how the atlas is made and the sources and licences.

This table is in the edition of October 2026, the first edition. Each month adds an edition that keeps the first rows of the table as they were.
